The Bundanoon History Group: Self Drive to Golden Vale Homestead, Sutton Forest
Date: Friday 9th April 2021.
Time: 10am – 1:30pm
Cost: $10
Place: Golden Vale Road
A rare opportunity to tour the house and gardensof this 1870’s National Trust property which is not usually open to the public. The tour will be followed by lunch.
The homestead complex was built around 1870 on 200 acres of land, with a substantial two-storey stone house set in a large English-style garden. The house contains an extensive collection of furniture, pictures, documents and objets d’art from the Keighley period (1965-2005).
The Homestead and nineteenth century outbuildings, including stables and woolshed, enjoy a fine rural setting on the Medway Rivulet at the foot of Mount Gingenbullen.
After inspecting the house (groups of 10 at a time, ground floor only), wander through the grounds, admire the outbuildings and enjoy the garden. We will end our visit with a traditional BHG sausage sizzle in the gardens.
